Master Communication that Works

Move past defensive clashing and polite silence. Build a culture where every voice is heard.

Most organizational conflict isn't about a lack of talent—it’s about a "relational operating system" that hasn't been updated. When teams disagree on how to spend a budget or prioritise a project, they usually fall into three traps:

  • The Argument Trap: We bring our "best arguments" to the table, trying to prove why our strategy is the most efficient. This leads to defensiveness, "shutting down," and circular debates that waste time.

  • The Silence Trap: Worried about offending others or "rocking the boat," we opt to stay quiet or don't fully express our opinions. This creates an artificial harmony that hides resentment and deprives the team of its best ideas.

  • The "Empathy" Trap: We try to be "empathetic," but it feels forced, invasive, or "too soft" for a professional setting.

The result? People feel unheard and uninspired, the full creative potential of the team is untapped and the best solutions never even make it to the table.

The Art of Communication

I help teams rewire their relational circuitry. We move from "me vs. you" to "us and the question" by focusing on Purpose-Related Empathy.

Move Beyond Strategy

We look for the "Why" behind a colleague’s preference. When people feel the logic of their position is truly "caught" and understood, their nervous system relaxes.

Find the Common Denominator

By identifying shared purposes (e.g., "doing things differently than our regular patterns"), we move from being adversaries to being on the same team.

Assertiveness with Care

I teach your team how to share their full, honest truth in a way that lands with care, ensuring that silence is replaced by vibrant, productive conversation.

    Who am I?

For 20 years, I’ve been fascinated by how we relate to one another. I started as a "conflict avoider," prioritizing everyone’s needs but my own until I didn’t know what I wanted. Through university studies in conflict resolution and a decade of deepening my practice in Nonviolent Communication (NVC), I discovered that healthy relationships aren't "easy"—they are skilled.

Today, I co-run The Art of Communication. Whether I’m working with NGOs, corporate teams, or navigating life with my partner and two young kids in Israel, I am constantly practicing (and failing and trying again) how to stay human in the heat of the moment. I’m here to help you step out of the "fight or give in" paradigm and enter a natural way of being together where both my needs and yours are held with care.

    Testimonials

"Mike Korman facilitates and guides our team with skill, compassion and intelligence. We feel he is a valuable member of our team, rather than an occasional advisor. We will certainly continue to engage him to work with us a couple of times a year. Non-violent communication is at the core of our work as we walk alongside community sector organisations and funders. The better we are at non-violent communication, the greater will be our social impact."

    Wendy Brooks, Wendy Brooks Consulting

"Mike spent time with us beforehand making sure he really understood our organisation, culture and style of facilitation.
As a result of this pre-work, the training session was relevant and very practical. There was a perfect balance of theory, discussion & practice.
Mike is professional and a master of holding space and creating safety. The tools, structures & techniques he taught us were able to be utilised internally as well as with the participants we work with. Selfishly, I've also been able to implement what he taught in my personal relationships.
